Egypt

Ever since I was a little girl, traveling to Egypt has been a dream of mine, and finally, it became a reality. We traveled to Cairo for a wedding and stayed four nights at The Ritz Carlton. With a short amount of time, we managed to pack in some incredible experiences. Here’s a list of things we did and what I recommend for anyone traveling to Egypt.
I am dreaming of the day I can go back and explore more!

Visiting the Pyramids and The Great Sphinx of Giza

Upon arriving in Cairo, the Pyramids were our first destination. I have seen The Egyptian Pyramids in documentaries and photos, but seeing them in real life was surreal. How did humans build them? Did aliens build them? We will never know! 😉 The last day of our trip, we saw The Great Sphinx of Giza, which is among the world’s largest sculptures.

Riding Camels at the Pyramids

I enjoyed riding camels around the pyramids. You can sign up for a camel tour ahead of time or find them near the Pyramids – CAMEL RIDE TOUR

Shopping at Khan Al-Khalili

Khan Al-Khalili is a historic bazaar and soul dating back to the 14th century. Known for its narrow streets, traditional Islamic architecture, and lively atmosphere, it offers a wide variety of goods, from spices and textiles to jewelry. We found a lot of amazing souvenirs to bring back to our family and friends.

Recommendation: Don’t be afraid to bargain with the vendors! It’s part of the shopping culture here and can be a lot of fun. Also, take your time to explore the winding alleys and try some local food and tea.

National Museum of Egyptian Civilization

Seeing the ummies and ancient Egyptian artifacts is an absolute must at the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization. The museum’s modern design and well-curated exhibits provided a comprehensive view of Egypt’s rich history.

Dining Adventures

Here are some dining spots I highly recommend:

  • Khan El Khalili Restaurant & Naguib Mahfouz Café: Located in the heart of Khan Al-Khalili, this restaurant offers traditional Egyptian food.
  • 9 Pyramids Lounge: This restaurant offers spectacular views of the pyramids, making it a perfect spot for lunch after exploring the historical sites.
  • Four Seasons First Nile Boat: The Four Seasons Nile Boat offers multiple restaurants with different types of cuisine. We ate at Nairu Nairu Lounge, which serves Asian cuisine, including Cantonese, Indian, Japanese, and Thai. It was yummy!
