I recently helped my friend Monica plan her baby shower, and we had so much fun bringing it to life. From printed bows with guest names to custom signage and sweet little cookies, every detail added something personal and heartfelt.

First things first — pick your setting. Will it be hosted at home, a backyard, a park, a restaurant or a private event space?
For Monica’s shower, we went with Il Pastaio, which has a beautiful private dining space. The Italian food was incredible, and having the venue handle setup and catering gave us more time to focus on the details.
Things to consider:
Neutral baby showers are super on trend (think taupe, ivory, or sage), but you can totally play with color!
Popular themes & palettes:
Choose what fits the mama-to-be’s style best, and let everything else build from there.
Once your theme is set, build a visual reference to guide the planning process.
What to include:
We used Pinterest to create a mood board — it helped keep everything cohesive and made vendor communication super easy.

Games don’t have to be cheesy — with the right mix and a few cute prizes, they become a highlight of the day.
I recently went to another close friend’s baby shower, and she gave out the cutest prizes — think cozy blankets, ceramic bowls, journals, and little luxuries you’d genuinely want to keep or gift. It made everything feel thoughtful and elevated, and guests had so much fun participating.
Fill a jar with baby socks and let guests guess the number. Closest wins a prize.
Display childhood photos of mom and dad-to-be. Guests guess how old they were in each one — it’s always good for laughs.
Guests cut a piece of string, ribbon, or yarn to the length they think matches the mama-to-be’s belly. Closest measurement wins!
A quiz about the mom-to-be’s cravings, nursery theme, or fun facts.
Guests race to change a baby doll’s diaper while blindfolded — hilarious every time.
Provide plain onesies and fabric markers or iron-ons for a hands-on keepsake activity. Everyone votes which one is the best!

Bonus Game:
“Would She Rather?” Mama Edition — ask playful questions and have guests vote. Lighthearted and fun for all ages.
Make sure the mama-to-be has a comfy seat, water nearby, and someone to help carry gifts or snap photos.

Give yourself 6–8 weeks to plan, and focus on what matters most: creating a space that feels thoughtful, welcoming, and filled with love. From hand-tied details to interactive games and meaningful takeaways, it’s the personal touches that leave lasting memories — not just for the parents-to-be, but for every guest who shares in the joy of the day. Keep it intentional, have fun with the process, and remember: the little things are what make it truly special.
