The Hotel
Anantara Chiang Mai Resort stands as a tranquil oasis in the heart of Chiang Mai. The resort’s design beautifully blends sleek modern architecture with traditional Thai influences, creating a relaxing vibe. In 2018, during my time with Remote Year, I often visited the hotel for lunch, so I was excited to stay here finally. We were welcomed with a flower necklace and a refreshing drink, setting the tone for our stay.
The property is perfectly situated along the Mae Ping River, offering stunning views and easy access to Chiang Mai’s vibrant cultural and historical landmarks. The lush gardens and tranquil water features create a truly serene atmosphere.

The Room
The Kasara Riverfront Suite is, without a doubt, one of the most exclusive offerings at Anantara Chiang Mai. The suite’s design marries modern sophistication with traditional Thai elements, featuring sumptuous Jim Thompson silks and elegant woodwork.
Every detail of the suite is crafted to showcase the stunning Mae Ping River views. Whether lounging in the spacious indoor area or relaxing on the balcony, the tranquil riverside setting was always in sight. Even the bathroom – a haven in itself – featured a soaking tub perfectly positioned for gazing out at the serene waters.

Food
Anantara Hotel offers a variety of world-class culinary experiences.

The Spa
We enjoyed complimentary afternoon massages thanks to booking through our travel agent Tiffany, which were heavenly, helping us recover from jet lag. The Signature Anantara Massage was my personal favorite, blending Thai and Western techniques for ultimate relaxation. One thing that I will definitely try next time is their wellness programmes that consist of yoga, meditation, ayurvedic massage,

New Year’s Eve Festivities
Anantara’s New Year’s Eve celebration was a blend of elegance and festivity. The hotel produces a grand event with beautifully arranged tables, live performances, music, and an extravagant buffet featuring cuisines from around the world. The atmosphere was lively and celebratory, making it an unforgettable way to ring in the new year.
As midnight approached, we ended up enjoying the countdown in our room, enjoying the fireworks from the river. Afterward, we made our way to the bridge, where we found people selling lanterns – we bought them and released lanterns into the night sky with a bunch of locals and tourists. It was a beautiful and symbolic way to welcome the new year

Beyond the Suite: Exploring Chiang Mai
During the days, we explored the city. We visited the bustling Night Bazaar, which is a short walk from the hotel. We also visited temples and my favorite neighborhood, Nimmanhaemin, and enjoyed some incredible restaurants. Here is a blog post on my Chiang Mai guide on top things to do.
