A Spiritual Reset in the Heart of Los Angeles: Peace Awareness Labyrinth and Gardens
Recently, I found myself in need of a spiritual reset. Life had been moving fast and while I wanted to step away and recalibrate, taking a week off wasn’t an option. Determined to find something local, I began searching for places in Los Angeles and came across the Peace Awareness Labyrinth and Gardens. Intrigued by its offerings, I signed up for a tour and brought my mom along.
From the moment we arrived, I fell in love with the property. The beautifully preserved Italian Renaissance mansion, the labyrinth and meditation gardens. But what stood out even more were the evnets/programs they offered, designed to help visitors reconnect with themselves. I decided to sign up for their one-day Urban Retreat—a day devoted to rest, reset, and recharge.
A Day of Reflection and Renewal
The retreat was led by Paul Kaye, an expert in mindfulness whose calming presence set the tone for the day. For 10 hours, I completely unplugged from my phone—felt amazing! At first, I felt the reflexive urge to check it, but as time passed, the stillness became a gift.
The retreat was thoughtfully curated to guide participants through a journey of inner peace. Our day included:
- Morning meditation
- Tai chi and qi gong
- Sound healing
- Vegetarian meals
- Forgiveness meditations
- Journaling
- The Way of Tea
The Power of Temporary
As I sat journaling during the retreat, one word kept surfacing: temporary. The world goes on, with or without us. It’s chaotic, it’s beautiful, and everything—our challenges, our joys—is temporary. This realization felt like a gentle nudge, reminding me of the importance of self-care and self-love amidst the busyness of life.
While stepping away from the noise of the outside world for a day, I began to truly understand the power of slowing down. Disconnecting from my phone and connecting with myself felt like hitting the “reset” button on my mind and spirit.
Seek and Ye Shall Find
For anyone in Los Angeles seeking to focus on self-care, learn more about mindfulness, or simply find a quiet moment to breathe, I highly recommend visiting the Peace Awareness Labyrinth and Gardens. From their labyrinth walks to their transformative retreats, this sanctuary offers a space to reconnect with what truly matters.
As the saying goes, “Seek and ye shall find.” Sometimes, the peace we’re searching for is closer than we think.
