After feeling a strong desire to reconnect with my creative side, I stumbled upon a mandala workshop led by Paul, a master in mandala art, based in Laguna Beach. I signed up for a 3-day workshop and immediately fell in love.
What are Mandalas?
Mandalas are intricate geometric designs that hold spiritual significance in various cultures, especially within Hinduism and Buddhism. Traditionally, mandalas represent the universe, with each shape and color symbolizing different aspects of life and the cosmos. The process of creating a mandala is meditative and reflective, offering a way to focus the mind and find inner peace. The repetition of patterns and symmetry in mandalas allows for a calming and therapeutic experience, making it not just an art form but also a spiritual practice.
My Mandala Adventure
From the moment I picked up the brush in Paul’s workshop, I was hooked. The process of creating these symmetrical, mesmerizing patterns was both calming and invigorating. Since that initial class, I’ve completed four mandala paintings, each one a labor of love taking 3-4 full days to complete.
If you are interested in exploring your own creativity and diving into the world of mandala painting, I can’t recommend Paul’s workshop enough. Whether you’re an experienced artist or a complete beginner, his guidance and passion for mandalas will inspire you. To check out his schedule and sign up, visit his workshop page.
