Experiencing N/Naka: A Culinary Dream Come True
For months, I had one goal: secure a reservation at N/Naka, a two-Michelin-starred gem in Los Angeles. Reservations open every Sunday at 10 a.m. and are gone in seconds—no joke, literally seconds.I set a calendar reminder every Sunday and, with persistence, strategy, and a little luck, I finally snagged a spot.
The 13-course kaiseki-inspired tasting menu exceeded all expectations. Every dish was a masterpiece, seamlessly blending tradition with innovation. From the delicate sashimi to the melt-in-your-mouth Wagyu, each course told a story of seasonality and precision.
If N/Naka sounds familiar, it might be because it was featured on Netflix’s Chef’s Table in its first season. The episode highlights Chef Niki Nakayama’s journey as a pioneer in modern kaiseki and her dedication to creating artful, story-driven dining experiences. Her passion and vision shine through in every dish, making the meal not just food but a deeply personal narrative.
