Thailand: Volunteering at Wildflower Home Foundation

During my time in Chiang Mai, I had the privilege of volunteering at the Wildflower Home with my friends from Remote Year. My duties for the day included working in the garden, babysitting kids, and cleaning dishes after lunch. I took care of a cute baby boy only to discover that his mom was mentally ill and taken to a hospital so she had to give him up for adoption. I am grateful for foundations like the Wildflower Home to help shelter those who are in need especially innocent children and women that have been abused. If you ever find yourself in Chiang Mai, please take a morning or afternoon to volunteer at the Wildflower Home. I believe it is important to integrate volunteer work during your travels to help others from different cultures/backgrounds which in return helps you gain a bigger perspective on life.

Here is a picture of me working in the garden, sweating! Luckily, they gave us these hats to wear to protect us from the sun.
